Dun dun dunuhnuh nuh nuh! Dunuhnuh nuh nuh! Dunuhnuh nuh nuh!

As most people know by now, Game of Thrones was the popular and groundbreaking HBO series based on the Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin. Martin also wrote supplementary material for the fictional world (unofficially called “Planetos” by fans) that the story took place in, including the more lighthearted Tales of Dunk and Egg series, as well as the book Fire & Blood, and the novella The Princess and the Queen, the latter two are the inspiration for the more recent series, House of the Dragon.

With House of the Dragon wrapping up its first season to much critical acclaim and fan excitement, and the next book installment, Winds of Winter actually having a release date (November 2023, based on the most recent announcement, so about a year from this being written) this seemed like a good time for us to put out some new officially licensed Game of Thrones merchandise!

Martin is celebrated for having complicated characters with complicated motivations, most of whom are neither wholly good nor evil, and this is especially evident in House of the Dragon.

Game of Thrones had characters with redemption arcs, good people on the “bad guy” side, and heroic allies who betrayed their causes. However, it also had many characters universally considered more heroic (like the Starks and some of their allies) and others that are clearly “the bad guys” (like most of the Lannister family.) The term “Game of Thrones” comes specifically from a quote by clear villain Cersei Lannister in both the book and series:

“When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.”

…and while there are many thrones sat upon by many leaders, the throne we’re generally focused on is the iron throne, a seat composed by the swords of Aegon the Conqueror’s defeated foes, forged by dragonfire. Aegon actually being a foreigner who pretty much invaded the continent of Westeros long before the current story, his foes having been the local leaders and their troops, and while the poetic statement of collecting the weapons of those you fight to make a throne is pretty fierce, it makes for an uncomfortable-if not dangerous- chair. Legend has it that the throne is made of 1000 swords, which makes more sense in book descriptions, but is pretty impractical to bring to the screen. That said, it’s undeniably cool looking…SO cool looking in fact, that we wanted to sell you your very own miniature versions! You can pick either this 3D pendant, or this detailed 3D lapel pin!

Not everyone wants to rule, some want to fight for their family. Enter house Stark (and the heroic Jon Snow, who most of us count) and their fierce Direwolf sigil. You can wear the Direwolf yourself on your finger or brow. You can also get the sigil of House Stark in a collection with other symbols of the great houses: Such as this stud earring set or our collector’s ring set.
