2020 saw the entire anime world jolted by the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen, a groundbreaking fantasy adventure from Gege Akutami. The story of Yuji and friends going up against demons from the underworld has only grown exponentially in popularity since then and is now one of the greatest and most well known anime in recent memory.

What is Jujutsu Kaisen about?

Jujutsu Kaisen is the story of Yuji Itadori, a talented high school student who finds his life changed when an accidental summoning of vile beasts sees Itadori swallowing a talisman - a decomposed finger - to save his peers. As a result, Yuji is now possessed by Sukuna, a horrific beast who is also the king of curses.

With the evil Sukuna flowing inside his body, Yuji is sentenced to death by the curse-fighting sorcerers, who fear Yuji might release the beast into the world if he is not killed instantly. However, an unlikely friend proposes a creative solution to postpone Yuji’s execution; Sukuna’s 20 fingers are dispersed all around the world and Yuji would have to track down and ingest every finger to absorb Sukuna completely into his body. If Itadori is killed after this fact, Sukuna will be fully vanished. The young student accepts this and enrolls in Jujutsu Tech High School in order to begin training for the monumental task ahead.
