A brief history of Marvel

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, the interconnected franchise of Marvel movies and TV shows, initially focused on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (frequently called the Avengers), a team of superpowered individuals brought together by a shadowy government organization to combat threats beyond human limits. As their clashes grew more and more devastating, these heroes often found themselves outgunned prompting otherworldly alien heroes to periodically aid them in their battles. As the battlefield shifted from Earth to space, new members and teams entered the fray. With 37 films released to date, this sprawling pantheon of heroes is poised to face Dr. Doom next, in Avengers: Doomsday that releases this year in the fall.
