From his humble beginnings as a saved orphan, Anakin Skywalker quickly became one of the most skilled Jedi apprentices in the universe through his skill and tenacity. However, behind the youthful energy was darkness and when the Jedi Council refused to grant him the rank of master, Anakin was courted by the dark side who hoped he would become their saviour. 

As Anakin stumbled more and more into the darkness, he fought a pivotal duel at the volcanic planet of Mustafar with his former master, Obi Wan Kenobi. Burnt and losing his limbs, Anakin would be resurrected by the forces of darkness as Darth Vader. Sporting a mechanical suit and a helmet that helped him breathe and survive after his mishap on Mustafar, Vader would scour the galaxy for his former master, the surviving Jedi and the resistance (which would turn out to be led by his children later). Committing unspeakable acts of evil in his tenure as Vader, he would redeem himself by siding with his son against Emperor Palpatine in 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
