What Happens in Lord of the Rings

Frodo Baggins, a meek little Dwarf from the Shire, finds himself in possession of the One Ring, a powerful tool forged by the Dark Lord Sauron. Tasked by the wizard Gandalf to destroy the ring by taking it to the fires of Mount Doom, Frodo and friends embark on a dangerous adventure with elves and men as the forces of Sauron hunt them relentlessly in anticipation of a final battle that will decide the fate of the entire Middle Earth.

The Cinematic Journey of the franchise so far

Esteemed director Peter Jackson first took on the monumental task of bringing the Lord of the Rings to life, shooting the three films back to back in what was perhaps the most daunting film production of all time. The gamble paid off and each Lord of the Rings feature was more successful than the last with the final entry, The Return of the King, also winning an astounding 11 Academy Awards. Jackson would then return to Middle Earth with the Hobbit trilogy with several of the original cast returning. This prequel series further expanded the cinematic Middle Earth before Amazon’s Rings of Power series took the story hundreds of years in the past into the origins of the Rings of Power.
